Lutheran Pioneers are Back! After many years in hibernation, we’re bringing the Lutheran Pioneers program back to Zion. Pioneers is an organization for third through eighth grade boys and girls at Zion Lutheran Church and School that provides training and activities to help our young people learn a variety of skills. While many of the activities will be outdoor-based, the Pioneers will learn skills that are useful in all parts of their lives, and all in an Christian environment. The type of activities will include hiking, first aid, orienteering, wildlife tracking identification, woodworking, auto mechanics, just to name a few.

The group plans on meeting on the first Monday of each month, beginning on Monday, April 3, 6:00-7:30pm. This initial meeting will take place in Zion’s fellowship hall. Membership dues for this half-year will be $15/per child. Please RSVP to Eric Schaller at 970-209-3130 or by email at

Zion Lutheran Pioneers Mission Statement: Zion Lutheran Pioneers exist to provide boys and girls with life skills, outdoor skills, and Christian leadership skills in a Christ-centered environment in order to assist them in growing up to become better citizens and leaders  in their families, the Church and their communities.

On Friday, March 10, The School Support Committee (SSC) will host a movie night in the fellowship hall for our school families starting at 6:00pm.  The feature presentation is Sing 2. Free hot chocolate and popcorn will be provided.  Come join in the fun!

Zion LS wants to let you know about the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to help with the cost of your child/children’s tuition through ACE Scholarships. If you haven’t heard of ACE, they are a K-12 scholarship program dedicated to providing scholarships that are purely needs-based for families who meet the income qualifications.

The 2023- 2024 ACE Scholarships application will be open February 6, through Tax Day, April 18, 2023.

If you would like to complete the application, it is done on a website called FACTS. You will need to complete the application itself, attach forms of taxable and nontaxable income verification, and submit a $35 processing fee to FACTS anytime between February 6 and April 18.

Scholarship award decisions are made per student (not per family) and will be made after the application closes for all. Families will be notified of awards in May/June.

If you have any questions for ACE directly at, 856.746.6521 or If you are interested in applying, please use the following link: Welcome to Grant & Aid (

Our chapel offering this week was $26.00.  Our total offerings this semester are $164.72.  Our upper grade students have decided that we will support our Ukrainian Lutheran Church.

A link on Parenting topics for you to explore each week comes from our WELS magazine- Forward in Christ.  Please check it out.  There will be a variety of material including articles and podcasts.  Here is this week’s link about, “Involving Children in Worship Services.”

Family Devotion Time is such a blessing not only for children , but also parents.  Here is a link to family devotions that are published 3 times a week.  On this page, you can also choose to have them delivered to your email account.  (This can be a great reminder for doing these on a regular basis.)  May God bless your time spent in devotions together!
