Hot Lunch – August 23, 2023

Nacho Bar – $5.00

Hot lunch is served every Wednesday for grades K-8. While the hot lunch coordinator, Jamie Collyard, serves most lunches throughout the year, she always welcomes parent volunteers to either help with the lunch or sign up to prepare and serve a hot lunch themselves. If you are interested one way or the other, please contact Jamie at

Dear families of Zion,

It is hard to believe it is the start of another school year!  So many events to look forward to, so much learning ahead, so many opportunities to love and serve each to be given, and blessing upon blessing from our gracious God to look forward to.  We are so privileged to have our Christian school.  Indeed, we are so privileged to be able to partner with you in helping your children grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and most importantly in their relationship with our Savior-God. We ask God’s rich blessings upon all of us this coming school year.  May God continue to bless and keep us all!

~Mr. Schaefer.

Upcoming Events in August-

8/29– Soccer Practice at Zion 3:45-5:00pm

8/31– Soccer Practice at Pinehurst 4:00-5:00pm

For the safety of our students during the school day, we will be placing cones at the top of the parking lot, cutting off access to the bottom portion of our parking lot at 8:30am each day.  At 3:15pm, the cones will be picked up so parking is available for afternoon pick-up time.

We thank Eric Schaller, one of our Board of Education members, for being our door greeter on Friday mornings.  His help is appreciated!

Looking for a way to get involved at Zion Lutheran School? Come join the School Support Committee (SSC)! We meet once a month to discuss and plan different events, fundraisers, school improvements, etc. You can invest as little or as much time as you’d like in the SSC. Our first meeting is Monday, August 28, after school. We’ll meet near the playground. See you there!

Zion LS will offer piano lessons for the 2023-2024 school year. Lessons are taught by Mrs Rahcel Traudt and are offered during the school day, grades K-8 are eligable. If you would like more information or are interested in signing your student up for lessons, please contact Mrs. Traudt at,

A First Aid/CPR course is going to be offered soon.  Anyone looking to be certified in this, including students looking to become certified for babysitting, should speak with Mrs. Margo Hahn.

Zion LC will be offering two “BIBLE BASICS” Bible class opportunities in August, which will allow you to learn more about the basic teachings of the Bible and, in connection, about what we will be teaching your children.

The first class – called “Zion is a Sin and Grace Church and School” – will be held on Wednesday, August 23, at 6:00pm, in Zion’s fellowship hall. This class will focus on what our gracious God has done for us in restoring our broken relationship with him by rescuing us from our sinfulness through the work of our Savior Jesus.

The second class – called “Zion is a Means of Grace Church and School” – will be held on Wednesday, August 30, at 6:00pm, in Zion’s fellowship hall. This class will focus on how God brings us the message of what he has done for us through Jesus – He works through “The Means of Grace,” that is, the good news gospel story of Jesus told to us in God’s Word, and in God’s Word connected to the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

If you would like to know even more about what the Bible teaches, and if you would like to pursue church membership at Zion, you will also have opportunities to take a more extensive “Bible Information Class.” Pastor Krause can work with you to schedule dates and times to continue with these classes on an individual basis. (These classes are very informal, and simply provide a great opportunity for deeper Bible study.)

These classes are strongly encouraged for all new families to our school, as everything we do at Zion is founded on Jesus and his Word. Please confirm your interest in attending the class with Pastor Krause either by calling him at church (303-985-2334), or through text (920-470-4820) or email (

A  link on Parenting topics for you to explore each week comes from our WELS magazine- Forward in Christ.  Please check it out.  There will be a variety of material including articles and podcasts.  Here is this week’s link about, “A Successful School Year.”

Family Devotion Time is such a blessing not only for children , but also parents.  Here is a link to family devotions that are published 3 times a week.  On this page, you can also choose to have them delivered to your email account.  (This can be a great reminder for doing these on a regular basis.)  May God bless your time spent in devotions together!
