We will have a new morning drop-off procedure starting Monday.  In order to provide a more secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff; all students (P-8) will use the top entrance of the school.  The lower entrance will remain locked.  One of the male staff will be at the top entrance in the morning to greet students and parents as they arrive.  We know this will not be as convenient for P-2 students, but ask for your understanding in this matter.  At this point, after school pick up and the noontime pick-up and drop off for preschool students will remain the same.   Students arriving after 8:30am are still to be dropped off at the church entrance.  Mrs. Saggau will accompany them to their classroom. Please know that the teachers, as always, are keeping a good eye on your children and the play areas at recess time as well.

It’s Palm Sunday this weekend.  All students in Preschool through 8th grade sing near the beginning of our 8:00 and 10:30am worship services.  There will be Sunday School for the children and Bible Class for the adults in between the services.  Plan on attending!

On Good Friday, April 7, our K-8 students will sing for our noon time worship service.  We will have lunch time at 11:30am, and then students and teachers will go to the balcony for the service.  Students will be dismissed from school following the service at about 1:00pm.

Zion’s Annual Family Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 10:00-11:30am. Children ages 0-11  are invited to bring a basket for a morning of fun, including an egg hunt and crafts for the kids. Simply scan the QR code to register.

Lutheran Pioneers are  Back! After many years in hibernation, we’re bringing the Lutheran Pioneers program back to Zion. Pioneers is an organization for third through eighth grade boys and girls at Zion Lutheran Church and School that provides training and activities to help our young people learn a variety of skills. While many of the activities will be outdoor-based, the Pioneers will learn skills that are useful in all parts of their lives, and all in an Christian environment. The type of activities will include hiking, first aid, orienteering, wildlife tracking identification, woodworking, auto mechanics, just to name a few.

The group plans on meeting on the first Monday of each month, beginning on Monday, April 3, 6:00-7:30pm. This initial meeting will take place in Zion’s fellowship hall. Membership dues for this half-year will be $15/per child. Please RSVP to Eric Schaller at 970-209-3130 or by email at

Zion LS wants to let you know about the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to help with the cost of your child/children’s tuition through ACE Scholarships. If you haven’t heard of ACE, they are a K-12 scholarship program dedicated to providing scholarships that are purely needs-based for families who meet the income qualifications.

The 2023- 2024 ACE Scholarships application will be open February 6, through Tax Day, April 18, 2023.

If you would like to complete the application, it is done on a website called FACTS. You will need to complete the application itself, attach forms of taxable and nontaxable income verification, and submit a $35 processing fee to FACTS anytime between February 6 and April 18.
