Hot Lunch – 9/13 – Cheese quesadillas, beans, rice and fruit/veggie – $5

Hot lunch is served every Wednesday for grades K-8. While the hot lunch coordinator, Jamie Collyard, serves most lunches throughout the year, she always welcomes parent volunteers to either help with the lunch or sign up to prepare and serve a hot lunch themselves. If you are interested one way or the other, please contact Jamie at jcollyard@gmail.com.

Students in  grades Kindergarten-Eighth grade visit the library once a week on Monday. Below you will find the procedure that is followed by the school faculty and students.

  • Students are able to check out a book for 1 week
  • Students may renew books for a second week (this allows more students access to popular books)
  • For a book forgotten at home, a note will be given to the teacher with the student’s name and the title of the book missing.
  • The student that has a missing book will still be able to check out books unless the teacher senses there is a problem to be communicated to the parent.
  • If there is a chronic issue with the returning checked out books, the teacher will communicate with the parents to improve the situation.

Parents, we will inform you of a student’s overdue library books beginning September 11.  We want as many students as possible to have an opportunity to read the popular books.  Thanks for your help with this!

Zion’s School Support Committee (SSC) is hosting a “Back to School Skate Night” on Monday, September 25, from 4:00-6:00pm at Skate City in Littleton. This is a great way to mingle with other families in the school and get to know one another. The cost is $7 per skater (spectators don’t have to pay to get in), $4 roller skate rentals. Pay at the door. There will be Meal Deals for purchase at Skate City ($5 per meal deal). See the flyer for more details. Hope to see everyone there!

For our First Semester Mission Offering we have chosen to support our mission congregation, Foundation Lutheran Church in Peyton, (a suburb of Colorado Springs) CO.  Our mission offering today was $53and the total is $119.08.  Thank you for your support of this project!

As a reminder for pick-up and drop off students, please enter and exit at a VERY SLOW speed and take a careful look for students and other vehicles as well.  Thank you!

Did you know that our school participates in the King Soopers Community Rewards Program? Since we began the program it has helped us raise $2500-$3000 each year to help support non-budgetary projects such as bathroom renovation, playground upkeep, and flooring in the upstairs hallways.  Thank you to those who are participating in the program!  If you aren’t currently part of a King Soopers program, we’d love to have you be a part of ours. It’s really easy to get started.  Here is how it works: Link your King Soopers Card to Zion at https://www.kingsoopers.com/account/communityrewards . Once you’ve logged in or created an account, you can search for Zion Lutheran School either by name or by our organization code:DR967, then follow the instructions to link your card. Your friends and extended family can be a part of this, too!  Thank you for your support!

A First Aid/CPR course is going to be offered soon.  Anyone looking to be certified in this, including students looking to become certified for babysitting, should speak with Mrs. Margo Hahn. You may contact her at Zionschoolcare@gmail.com.

A  link on Parenting topics for you to explore each week comes from our WELS magazine- Forward in Christ.  Please check it out.  There will be a variety of material including articles and podcasts.  Here is this week’s link about, “Parenting and Technology.” https://forwardinchrist.net/episode-16/

Family Devotion Time is such a blessing not only for children , but also parents.  Here is a link to family devotions that are published 3 times a week.  On this page, you can also choose to have them delivered to your email account.  (This can be a great reminder for doing these on a regular basis.)  May God bless your time spent in devotions together!

Please check your email for a google form invitation sent last week with information about how to sign up for our first field trip of the year to Anderson Farms on Friday, October 13. Please fill this out by Friday, September 29 so that I may have an accurate count of who plans to attend. Thank you!

In an effort to promote our preschool program, we occasionally use pictures of our students. We will not use your child’s picture without your permission. Because of this, a photo release form either was or will be sent home with your child in their folder. Please take the time to fill this out and return to me as soon as possible! Thank you so much for your support as we work to expand our Zion preschool family!
